Thankful it’s time to give thanks

For many, Thanksgiving is their favorite time of year. Gathering with family and friends, enjoying a feast together, sharing stories of the challenges of the last year and, of course, football! Well ok, not everyone enjoys football but that does bring us to the subject of enjoyable past times during the holidays. Maybe football isn’t your thing, but maybe one of the seasonal events below is.

HINSDALE CHRISTMAS WALK-
Join the holiday fun on Friday, Dec. 3rd from 5-7:30 p.m. for the 55th annual Hinsdale Christmas Walk in downtown Hinsdale. The event features Cookie’s Carousel, the Kiddie Express train, animated holiday characters, strolling carolers, giveaways and more. Santa arrives at the Memorial Building (19 E. HINSDALE TURKEY TRAIL-
Can you find the turkeys around Hinsdale? Grab your family and take a walk around town and search #HinsdaleTurkeyTrail or @HinsdaleParks on social media to see others on their search. Use the clues and map posted on the website listed below to find all of the turkeys in town. Take a selfie and note how many turkeys were found by tagging @HinsdaleParks and #HinsdaleTurkeyTrail. You can also download and print a turkey to color from the website (or pick up a copy at Village Hall). The Turkey Trail goes through Nov. 28th. ‘THE NUTCRACKER’-
Salt Creek Ballet is back live on stage presenting ‘The Nutcracker’ Nov. 27-28 at Hinsdale Central (5500 S. Grant St., Hinsdale). This family-friendly production features a cast of 80 dancers, including Salt Creek Ballet students ages 6-18, and 10 internationally acclaimed guest dancers. Sunday’s performance includes special admission to the “Sugar Plum Party,” where audience members can meet characters from the ballet, step onto the stage and enjoy refreshments. Show times are Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. and Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $48, $43 for children 12 and under. Visit https://www.saltcreekballet.org for more information.

‘HINSDALE HOLIDAY TREES ORNAMENT MAKING CONTEST’-
You can help decorate the Hinsdale holiday trees in Burlington Park by making a homemade ornament, which can be entered in a contest to win a prize. Ornaments should be made of weatherproof material and should not have sharp edges, pointy ends or heavy materials. A 10-12-inch string should be attached for hanging. Ornaments should be delivered with the entry form (available online) to village hall between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. Winners will be announced Dec. 7. HEY KIDS! Santa is waiting for a letter from you! Write a letter and drop it in the mailbox at Hinsdale’s Village Hall, 19 E.
