April is a month full of special days. April Fool’s Day, baseball opening day, National Deep Dish Pizza Day, Beer Day, Hug Your Dog Day and, of course, Easter to name a few. With all those special days there must be plenty of things to keep your time occupied in the coming weeks. The warmer weather will have us all heading outside more. THE GREAT HINSDALE EGGS-PLORATION – Still a few days left to find eggs in Hinsdale! The event goes through April 4th and is sponsored by The Village of Hinsdale and The Community House. To participate, go to to download clues and your passport which are now available!

PARK CLEAN UP DAY – EARTH DAY CELEBRATION – Thursday, April 22 4 p.m.-dusk. To celebrate Earth Day, come out and help clean up Hinsdale. Perfect for individuals, families or church groups, scouts, etc. Projects include painting, planting and debris clean up. To register or for more information, call 630-789-7090.

TREES IN BLOOM WOODLAND FAMILY HIKES – The Morton Arboretum offers this family hike Wednesdays and Saturdays in April. Get inspired by the beauty of some of the earliest bloomers and learn how to plant and care for a tree sapling you can take home on this guided, family-paced hike. 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m. Saturdays. THESE WALKS ARE FOR THE BIRDS –Learn how to identify birds while looking for migrating species on a guided Bird Walk for Beginners offered from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Fridays by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District. Walks are scheduled for Blackwell, Herrick Lake, Salt Creek Park, Greene Valley, West DuPage Woods, Lyman Woods, St. James Park and Timber Ridge. The walks are for those 18 and older and cost $5.
