Who knew?? August is the month of so many fun, and summer related, national food holidays. You can celebrate summer foods on their special days like NATIONAL S’MORES DAY, NATIONAL RUM DAY, NATIONAL POTATO DAY, NATIONAL FAJITA DAY and NATIONAL SOFT ICE CREAM DAY – to name just a few. FALLING STAR WATCH
Watch for falling stars during the Perseid Meteor Showers at the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center, 9800 Willow Springs Road, Willow Springs. They are hosting an evening of the stars on August 11. Bring a chair and view the meteor shower on a night that should provide a maximum number of sighting just after the moon sets. MOVIES ON THE LAWN
Oakbrook Center, 100 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook, is hosting a family friendly movie experience on Wednesdays through September 1. Bring a chair and stop by the Oakbrook Center Lawn for some fresh air and an evening show. The August 11 show is “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”.
